Polarizer Miter Bends
Miter bend mirrors with parallel grooves can change the polarization of an incident HE11 mode in corrugated waveguide. Two polarizers in series with suitably different groove depths can produce a virtually arbitrary output elliptical polarization. To minimize field enhancement that could lead to arcing, rounded grooves are preferred. Because the power absorbed on the mirror can be considerably more than on a flat miter bend, good water cooling is essential.
