Strategic Areas & Projects
Nanotechnology & Smart Materials
Materials engineered at the nanoscale or to behave in a controlled and tailored fashion will enable technologies in sensing, biomedicine, and energy sciences. This thrust aims at developing materials and structures using state-of-the art synthesis and fabrication methods accessible within the GA Energy Group.
Quantum Materials
Quantum computing and sensing have the potential to revolutionize science, technology, medicine, and communications. However, there are significant hardware challenges to overcome that require advancements, if not breakthroughs, in materials science and in precision fabrication of materials. GA is exploring where our unique capabilities can address such challenges.
Hydrogen Science & Technology
The need for developing cost-effective and high-performance hydrogen technologies will require significant breakthroughs in materials. This includes designing materials that can store and release hydrogen much more efficiently than existing solutions. The aim of this thrust is to explore engineered material composition and structures that achieve such goals.
THz Technologies
Materials that will enable the next generation of communication (6G) and new diagnostics still need to be developed and evaluated. The aim of this strategic area is to develop such materials in particular for plasma diagnostics and communication waveguides.
