On-Demand Hydrogen & Heat Generation Systems

GA-EMS’ on-demand hydrogen and heat generation systems are based on a proprietary solid, lightweight aluminum alloy that reacts with water to rapidly generate high purity hydrogen to power fuel cells.

Hydrogen and heat are generated only when the aluminum alloy fuel is activated by water. The system can be powered on and off at any time to adapt to changing demands for power and to provide greater system efficiency. The aluminum alloy reacts into a non-toxic aluminum hydroxide byproduct for safe, convenient disposal.

Our turnkey system solutions are modular and scalable to suit a variety of platform and mission requirements. Each system is designed for ease of operation, refueling, and maintenance, providing safe, reliable hydrogen and heat with no mechanical generators or compressors required.

HEATS
Underwater Aluminum Alloy Heaters

Extended exposure to cold water can affect a diver’s ability to maintain body temperature and dexterity in vulnerable hands and feet. GA-EMS’ High Energy Aluminum Thermal Source (HEATS) is an energy dense solution designed to complement a diver’s thermal gear to deliver comfortable personal warming without the need for battery packs or an electrical connection.

HEATS is based on GA-EMS’ proprietary solid aluminum alloy that is specially formulated into lightweight bars that fit neatly into thermal pouches. HEATS is ideally suited for ease of storage, transport and use in cold-water environments, wet diver delivery vehicles, and long distance underwater missions.

While underwater, a diver simply removes the HEATS thermal pouch from the sealed plastic bag and inserts the pouch into the diver’s outer garment or insulated dive suit pocket. HEATS automatically activates when it is exposed to water and will continue to generate warmth as the aluminum alloy renders down while the diver remains submerged. HEATS releases low levels of hydrogen gas and renders a non-toxic aluminum hydroxide by product, a naturally occurring compound that is not harmful to either the diver or the environment. The byproduct remains in the pouch for safe, easy disposal.

  • Easy to Transport: HEATS disposable thermal pouches containing the solid aluminum alloy bars are vacuum sealed in plastic bags to remain dry until needed.
  • Easy to Use: Convenient D-ring pull tabs simplify extracting HEATS underwater.
  • Easy to Store: Compact and lightweight, each HEATS bar weighs only 3.8 oz and measures ¾ in. H x 5/8 in. W x 5 ¼ in. L.
