General Atomics Systems Integration Wins Navy Contract to Modify the Brakes, Wheels, and Tires of E-6B Mercury Fleet

July 13, 2011 - General Atomics Systems Integration, LLC (GA-SI), Kaysville, Utah, was awarded a firm-fixed-price requirements contract by the U.S. Navy to design, implement, evaluate, test, kit and spare lighter brakes, wheels, radial tires and a brake temperature monitoring system for the E-6B fleet. GA-SI will conduct an engineering analysis, qualification testing, develop design changes and perform integration to modify and incorporate the new design. Messier-Bugatti-Dowty (MBD) will be the Principal Subcontractor supplying the wheels, carbon brakes, and the Brake Temperature Monitoring System (BTMS) sensors. Work is expected to be completed by September 2015. The Naval Air Systems Command, Patuxent River, Md., is the contracting activity.
